Burning Out as Minnesota Burns Up? How to Stay Motivated This Summer

Burning Out as Minnesota Burns Up? How to Stay Motivated This Summer | The Right Staff

When the sun is staying out longer and temperatures are rising, staying focused on your work can be difficult. You most likely would rather be having fun outside than working in an office. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to stay productive during business hours.

Five Tips to Stay Motivated at Work this Summer

Write Down Your Goals

Keep a list of your professional goals visible in your workspace. Being reminded of what you plan to accomplish motivates you to finish each task and reach each milestone. Having clear objectives makes it easier to stay productive. You should be able to leave work at a reasonable time and still enjoy the sunshine.

Manage Your Workload

Consider the projects you are working on and when each task needs to be completed. Schedule the most complex activities when you are most productive and the less thought-intensive tasks during other times. You will be more focused and productive when you plan out when to work on everything.

Change Your Work Space

Make your work area more inspirational. For example, hang a picture of your dream home, new car, or anything else that motivates you. Or display an inspirational quote that encourages you to keep moving forward. Look at it every time you need a reminder to focus on your work.

Spend Time Outside

Take time each day to enjoy the outdoors. Whether it is a walking meeting, a stroll during your lunch break, or a quick break for some fresh air, you need time to enjoy nature. After work, you can go to a park, take a hike, or ride your bike. On the weekends, you can hit the beach, have a cookout, or swim in a community pool. Then, when you return to work, you will feel rested and refreshed.

Work Outdoors

If you are able to work remotely, find an outdoor space that fits your needs. A patio, balcony, or picnic table may be good options. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing, sit in the shade, and apply sunscreen every 2 hours. If you cannot work outside, try moving your desk near a window. Open it to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.
